Headlamp Leveling - A manual headlamp leveling system is included with the standard halogen headlamps only in certain export markets where it is required equipment. These front lamps include a headlamp leveling actuator motor on each front lamp unit and a thumbwheel actuated headlamp leveling switch in the instrument panel bezel between the headlamp switch and the steering column. These components allow the headlamp beam pattern to be adjusted manually by the vehicle operator from the interior of the vehicle to compensate for passenger or cargo loads. On vehicles manufactured for certain export markets equipped with optional HID headlamps, an Automatic Headlamp Leveling Module (AHLM) (also known as the High Intensity Discharge Transducer/HIDT) on the top of the left rear inner wheel housing within the passenger compartment controls a headlamp leveling actuator motor on each front lamp unit to automatically perform these adjustments using inputs from front and rear axle sensors to monitor changes in the vehicle suspension height.
